Surprisingly, not many people are aware that they are burnout from their work. Most of them know that they are stressed, but stress and burnout are not necessarily the same. Stress is the beginning stage of physical, emotional, and mental fatigue while burnout is the more severe side of stress caused by being in such state in extended period of time.
To be stressed is normal and expected especially if you make a living trading stocks or flipping burgers in a fast-paced restaurant. But it can propel you to action and can even give you a bolt of creativity and productivity from time to time, but to be “burnout,” yields a different story.
Do you......dread going to work because you’ve somehow lost your motivation and sense of purpose in your job?
You may be physically doing you work but because you don’t feel inspired to work anymore, your work results become sloppy. You don’t produce as much as you used to and may have become inefficient. Every action from you needs a lot of pull simply because your heart is burnout.
...procrastinate and would do other tasks first?
If you are burnout, you may be delaying to get your work started. You begin to rationalize that you need to do this task or this thing first before you can start your main responsibility.
...find focusing becoming increasingly – hey, that’s cool! - more difficult?
You surf, talk about gossip with your colleagues, eat (even when you’re not hungry), or sing while you are in the middle of your task.
